Try to describe yourself in 3 words only.

Passionate epic adventurer.

If you would be an animal, what would you be and why?

A LION. Because of their leadership abilities and their survival instincts. A Lion can lead a pride, or if it must leave that pride, seek a new life elsewhere, perhaps start a new pride.

Tell me about yourself and your current venture.

I was born and raised in The Dominican Republic and am now making a feature film called “Cabarete”. It is the first movie I’ve written and directed. We filmed in 2017 and we are now editing. The movie is set to be completed at the end of 2018.

Where did you get the entrepreneurial spirit from?

Growing up I was a helpless dreamer and optimist. I dreamed of ways of making things better, be it for my school, my hometown, or a particular product or service. I was passionate about storytelling and movies, so around 2008 I set up a Netflix-like model of rent-by- disc Webpage in Dominican Republic. We had a blast with it all the way until we
sold it in 2011. It got us noticed in the media and helped me co-found a daily deals e- commerce called megusta.do. However, I knew that I wanted to make a life out of movies, so I gathered some moviemaking experience and in 2012 decided to sell everything and enrol in a four-year masters program in Los Angeles at USC. As business merged with art, it opened a whole new world for me. From 2016 until today, I set up a Production Company called “FILMICANA” and filmed my first feature film. We are set to have it done at the end of 2018.

What’s the most exciting experience you’ve had until now in your entrepreneurial journey?

Making the film “Cabarete”. At one point, we were hanging out of a chopper with the door open filming our main actor kitesurfing in the Caribbean. Have you ever regretted starting your own business? I’ve learned tough lessons but never regretted it. For me, it’s part of it.

What is the most difficult thing about being your own boss?

Setting deadlines and keeping them.

What best motivates you?

The image. I form an image of what I want a venture to become and I try to visit that image every now and then. During obstacles, it reminds me why of I am doing this.

What book has inspired you the most?

It’s a tough question, I’ll give you three.
- Homo Sapiens by Harari Yuval Noah
- Mastery by Robert Greene
- The One Thing by Gary Keller

What is your favourite quote?

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can't-- you're right.” Henry Ford

Where do you get support from when facing up hardships in business?

I try to revisit the story of the titans that have gone before me. It reminds me that I am not alone and that hardships are part of the journey.

What is your opinion on the following statement: Are entrepreneurs originally born as such or they are raised to be successful?

Neither. People learn to be entrepreneurs by practicing it, by seeking it themselves. They often succeed with the help of their mentors.  But sometimes entrepreneurs emerge from the harshest environments out there. I think in these instances, the very obstacles they need to overcome motivates them to push forward and ultimately define their success.

What do you do on a daily basis to grow as an entrepreneur?

Read a chapter from a book, then I go for a walk.

How do you “recharge your batteries”?

I try to take 2 or 3 walks during the day.

Top 3 places on the globe that you haven’t conquered yet but would love to?

- Hollywood, I am just starting to permeate the film industry here.
- Paris, I would love to make a movie there. Not just because of the place, but because of their style of films.
- Galapagos: Would love to spend 1-month observing life. Top 3 mobile apps, websites that make your work and life more effective? I really like MURAL.CO, it’s simple and helps me visualize complex ideas quickly.
